Basic Purpose
The Pricing Specialist plays a central role at Nexeo Plastics by supporting Product Line Management through the delivery of actionable cost and sell-price insights to commercial leaders. These insights help optimize profitability and ensure effective execution of the business plan.
This role works closely with Product Line Management, Purchasing, Customer Experience, and Account Managers to improve the accuracy of cost and sell-side records, support pricing decisions, and maximize company profitability.
Position Responsibilities
- Build strong partnerships with commercial leaders to support pricing effectiveness and profitability improvement.
- Lead monthly calls to review pricing health, identify key issues, and establish actionable follow-up items.
- Provide predictive profitability analysis for existing customer pricing and help resolve pricing issues prior to the sale.
- Research and improve visibility into product costs to help identify solutions and support informed decision-making.
- Identify profitability opportunities through revenue summary analysis; track and measure results, report progress to the Pricing Manager, and help drive accountability across departments that impact margin.
- Manage margin and profitability opportunities through to root cause resolution.
- Partner with Product Line Management and Accounting on negative margin reviews and exception reporting.
- Conduct in-depth reviews of product cost, price supports, freight charges, and customer pricing.
- Analyze cost accuracy and opportunities to maximize special and contract pricing, while helping optimize buy strategy and supply plans.
- Propose changes to buy strategy, price support strategy, and sell prices to improve profitability.
- Manage issue resolution for the commercial team from start to finish, ensuring timely follow-up and closure.
- Support efforts to reduce monthly negative margin line items.
- Complete root cause analysis tracking and provide timely resolution to pricing-related issues.
- Help reduce overall POD rates through process improvement, pricing accuracy, and cross-functional coordination.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience & Skills)
- Bachelor’s degree required. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience in Purchasing, Accounting or Customer Service in a distribution environment desired.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Business Warehouse and SAP is desired
- Demonstrated ability to manage time, organize and set priorities to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills
- Must have proven success in problem-solving with cross-functional teams and various departments
