The Pricing Manager serves as the leader of the pricing team, with direct responsibility for guiding team priorities, providing day-to-day direction, and ensuring consistent execution of pricing strategies and governance practices. This role is accountable for developing team capability, aligning pricing activities with commercial objectives, and fostering a disciplined, data-driven approach to pricing across the organization.

 

In this capacity, the Pricing Manager provides strategic pricing leadership and actionable insights to commercial leaders related to cost, market conditions, competitive positioning, and selling price. The role is responsible for driving pricing governance, improving margin performance, supporting commercial execution, and enabling informed decision-making across regions, product lines, and customer segments.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop pricing team members to drive performance and continuous improvement
  • Build strong partnerships with Sales team, Product Management, Finance, and IT to support pricing strategy and execution
  • Develop and manage pricing strategies that optimize margin, price realization, and competitive positioning
  • Evaluate customer pricing, project pricing, discount structures, and non-standard pricing requests to protect profitability targets
  • Provide predictive and actionable pricing analysis to support strategic and transactional pricing decisions
  • Design, maintain, and enhance pricing models, frameworks, and analytical tools to ensure data integrity and pricing effectiveness
  • Research market trends, competitive pricing, customer behavior, and cost drivers to support pricing recommendations
  • Develop dashboards and reporting to monitor pricing KPIs, discount behavior, margin performance, and pricing compliance
  • Identify profitability opportunities through detailed analysis and track initiatives through implementation and root cause resolution
  • Partner with Finance to align pricing recommendations with cost-to-serve, margin analysis, and profitability goals
  • Drive pricing governance, process improvement, and workflow automation to improve speed, consistency, and insight quality
  • Support executive leadership through strategic presentations and data-driven storytelling
  • Reduce low margin activity and improve overall pricing discipline across the organization

 

Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience & Skills)

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Mathematics, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in pricing, pricing analytics, market insights, or commercial strategy in a B2B distribution or industrial environment preferred
  • Proven experience leading pricing strategy, margin optimization, and pricing governance initiatives
  • Strong experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Product Management, and IT
  • Demonstrated success translating complex pricing and market data into actionable business recommendations
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel required
  • Experience with Tableau, QlikView, Alteryx, SAP, and Salesforce strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, organize work effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Experience developing dashboards, KPIs, and executive-level reporting preferred
