This is a work from home position. The ideal candidate can be located anywhere in the country.  There may be occasional travel.

 

The Technical Connect Representative (Tech Connect) is an inside technical role that supports process with our sales staff, customers, and prospects. Common tasks may include material recommendation, regulatory assistance, processing advice, and documentation processing. His/Her primary function is to support the sales team and customers.  This is done by establishing Nexeo as a credible technical resource, identifying opportunities to uniquely address customer needs, and enabling the organization to sell value.   
 
Core Competencies/Success Factors: 

  • A successful Tech Connect Rep will have the unique combination of technical knowledge, efficient communication, and personable skills necessary to drive both solutions and loyalty.  It will be necessary for the Tech Connect Rep to proactively engage and develop good working relationships with chemists and formulators primarily over the phone. 
  • Excellent probing, listening, and follow-up skills are key to this role.  In addition, the ability to identify and connect customer needs with Nexeo products or services is critical.  
  • Given that Nexeo is one of the largest plastics distributors and that most candidates will not be technical experts in every technology or product line we represent, it is important that the Tech Connect Rep enjoys and is able to learn new products and technologies to be able to become experts in a wide variety of markets. 
  • Excellent communication and organization skills are necessary to effectively interact and interface with both internal and external contacts.  The Tech Connect Rep will routinely communicate with Nexeo personnel, suppliers, and customers through a variety of different media options.  The ability to communicate via phone, email, and online meetings is necessary.  
  • Industry experience in the plastics business, especially processing, part and tool design, material selection, and regulatory.
  • Digitally Savvy: An understanding of digital tools (Instant Message, Live-Virtual chat, etc) and be able to engage with customers in this channel.

 
Essential Functions: 

  • Initial resource for Sales Staff and customers regarding various technical questions such as: alternative product suggestions, processing, regulatory, SDS/PDS requests. 
  • Establish relationships with the customers and specifiers within our customer and prospect base. 
  • Developing growth opportunities by introducing products and solutions that help our customers meet their growth goals and propel our specialty product sales objectives forward. 
  • Documenting all activities in the CRM system (SFDC) to ensure that the Sales Professionals and CSRs have visibility to the projects that a Tech Connect Rep is working on at an account. 
  • Creating and presenting sales tools to help increase our Sales Professional’s acumen and effectiveness in selling the key specialty products.  Keeping an updated version of the sales tool in our internal databases (SRD, SFDC).  
  • Be aware and contribute to the sales strategy and provide input to key account plans.  Ensure alignment on prioritization of customer interaction with overall district strategy.
