The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the management, allocation and deliveries of our product’s final mile, which includes preparation, shipping and receiving, as well as invoice auditing of the services rendered and completed. This position offers support and implementation of our logistics policies, administers and maintains TMS program systems and coordinates with in-house 4PL and Common Carriers to promote accurate and timely processing of orders for all our customers. Additionally, the Logistics Specialist develops reports showing transportation costs on precise lanes and provides market insight on trends, costs and availability. Our logistics specialists usually work within the logistical department in a variety of modes, such LTL, FTL and Bulk; however, they are vital to our on-time delivery and the successful customer satisfaction in all the regions we operate.
Position Responsibilities
• Manage specific mode of transportation for business including relationships with operations teams and tracking of in-transit freight.
• Review and approve freight invoices per contractual agreements in place between business and carrier partners.
• Manage order issue reporting process relating to carrier failure & perform root cause analysis. Recommend and executes steps to resolve.
• Addresses individual carrier issues directly to troubleshoot, find alternatives, and implement fixes to prevent future failures of a similar nature.
• Compiles data from various systems to evaluate carrier service levels. Systems include NCAR, TMS systems, HSSE incident reports, internal claims reports. Prepares Scorecard for each carrier based on the data.
• Review and resolve various types of freight claims, including course of action, developing arguments and addressing carrier rebuttals, conducting negotiations and preparing and issuing freight claims to the carrier.
• Manages overall case resolutions strategies, settlements and litigation support.
• Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical and administrative work while maintaining official claims records, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Continually evaluate, monitor and audit all aspects of the claim process while researching and strategizing best practice freight claim prevention procedures.
• Coordinate the communications and paperwork required for the proper submission of freight claims to carriers.
• Manage the coordination of salvaging damaged material if a viable option.

Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience & Skills)
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
• 1-3 years of Transportation experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a distribution environment preferred.
• Specific experience in working with PeopleNet and SAP TM is a plus.
• Exceptional interpersonal and people skills and dedication to working in a "team" environment that will facilitate problem solving by listening to and building consensus.
• Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and adjust priorities on demand.
• Excellent customer service focus results oriented.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including Excel, MS Word, and MS Access; experience with Cliqview or other Business Warehouse (BW) reporting tools; experience with SAP preferred with other ERP systems considered
• Strong negotiation skills with equipment vendors; prior Carrier interface preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration and presentation skills. Must be able to create and develop concepts/solutions that support Nexeo's business requirements
